Working and choosing a school in Pattaya
Prepare the right questions about employment, school licensing, fees and everyday family life before relocating to Pattaya.
Work and professional plans
Build your relocation plan around a written description of what you will actually do, where you will do it and who will employ or pay you. Ask the Thai Department of Employment and the appropriate immigration authority which permissions apply to that exact arrangement. Do not assume that permission to stay answers the separate question of permission to work. Confirm your own circumstances before starting, including remote work or volunteering.
Ask a prospective employer for its registered identity, workplace address, written duties, salary currency, payment schedule and responsibility for administrative costs. Obtain independent advice if the answers conflict. Budget for accommodation and a return journey without relying on an unverified offer. APattaya does not arrange work permits, guarantee visas or charge placement fees.
Comparing international schools
Start with the Office of the Private Education Commission’s official school lookup and check the precise school and campus name. A listing is a starting point; ask separately about the curriculum, language of instruction and any claimed accreditation. Confirm these details with the accrediting organisation where relevant.
Request a full written annual cost including registration, deposits, transport, meals, uniforms and additional support. Ask about withdrawal terms and refunds before paying. Discuss your child’s year group, previous schooling, language needs and available support directly with the school. Visit if possible, ask about safeguarding and communication with families, and test the daily journey at school-run time. A short commute can matter as much as an impressive brochure. No school has been individually inspected or endorsed for this guide.
