Pattaya entry formalities: visa, TDAC and immigration

Plan around the passport used, purpose of travel and the permission recorded at entry. Exemption rules changed in September 2026; this guide distinguishes visas, arrival information, accommodation reporting and extension applications.

Do not automatically reuse the old 60-day rule

The Tourism Authority of Thailand announced a framework effective 15 September 2026 replacing the general 60-day measure. It includes a 30-day category for listed nationalities, a 15-day category and separate bilateral arrangements. Belgium and France appear in the published 30-day list.

The language of this guide does not determine your entry category. For a Chinese, Russian or other passport, check the applicable category and agreements with Thailand’s foreign ministry or competent consular post. Absence from one list does not establish ineligibility under every arrangement.

Before departure: check the relevant requirements

Check passport validity, actual travel purpose, the correct visa or exemption category and documents required for your circumstances. Requirements can differ by nationality, document, application location and duration. For an electronic visa, start with the official Thai e-Visa portal and the consular post responsible for your residence.

Keep verifiable accommodation details and relevant journey documents available. Match names, passport numbers and dates across documents. Online application acceptance must not be described as a universal guarantee of border admission.

TDAC is a free arrival form, not a visa

The Immigration Bureau’s official service describes a free TDAC submission in the three-day window before arrival. It collects passport, journey and accommodation information, with fields completed in English. Use the official domain and check each detail before submitting.

Save confirmation offline. If plans change before travel, consult the update function and its limits: some identity fields cannot be edited in the same way. TDAC does not itself grant a stay period and replaces neither a required visa nor the entry decision.

In Pattaya: Chonburi Immigration in Jomtien

Chonburi Immigration identifies its office at 75/265 Soi 5, Jomtien Beach Road. The checked information describes weekday morning and afternoon service periods. Before travelling, confirm holidays, closures, appointments and whether the office handles your particular procedure.

Visiting the office does not make an incomplete application complete. Check the current document list for your status and prepare requested copies. Leave time to resolve missing paperwork and retain your own copies. Do not wait until the final permitted day to discover the requirements.

Extension is an application, not an entitlement

Eligibility, duration, documents and fees for an extension depend on the entry category and competent decision. This guide therefore does not promise an extra number of days for every visitor. Confirm the current process directly with immigration and keep the official receipt if applying.

Read the actual permission end date recorded in your documents. A longer hotel booking, changed flight or prepared form does not alter that date. If an annotation is unclear or contradictory, ask the competent office before building plans around an assumption.

TM30, longer stays and training plans

Accommodation-address reporting, commonly associated with TM30, is distinct from the TDAC completed before arrival. Coordinate it with the hotel, owner or responsible accommodation party as appropriate. A presence notification does not extend permission to stay; longer-stay reporting obligations are also separate.

An occasional Muay Thai lesson is not interchangeable with study, paid competition or work. Ask the consular authority which status fits the real activity. A training gym is not automatically authorised to support an education-visa application.

Protect documents and keep a deadline calendar

Use official domains when submitting passport information. Distinguish paid private assistance from a free administrative service, especially TDAC. An advertisement at the top of a search result does not establish government ownership.

Keep secure copies, arrival confirmation, stay permission and accommodation contacts separately. Record deadlines and recheck rules before each new journey. This page provides a preparation method; individual eligibility is confirmed by the competent authorities.

Build one document checklist for each traveller

For a group, make a separate checklist for every passport holder rather than assuming the organiser’s category applies to everyone. Record the passport used, real purpose, planned arrival and departure, relevant official source and the question still unresolved. A shared hotel booking does not make different nationalities or activities administratively identical.

Use a simple status beside each item: checked, waiting for confirmation or not applicable. Keep the date of the official check. This is an organisational method, not an additional government form. It helps identify exactly what needs clarification before paying for arrangements that are difficult to change.

Three changes that call for a fresh check

Consider three planning examples: the flight arrives on a different date, the first accommodation changes, or a short holiday becomes a longer training stay. None of those changes should be handled by simply copying the previous submission. Identify the affected information, consult the relevant official procedure and keep the new confirmation with the existing travel records.

A change of hotel primarily raises accommodation-information questions; a longer stay raises permission and possibly category questions as well. Do not use a successful update to one form as evidence that every other obligation has been fulfilled. Where the change affects the real purpose of the trip, describe that purpose accurately when seeking advice.

Ask an authority a precise, answerable question

An effective enquiry gives the relevant passport nationality, current or intended entry category, dates and actual activity, then asks one clear question. For example: which current document list applies to this application, or which official service handles a correction? Send sensitive identifiers only through a channel the authority requests and confirms as appropriate.

Keep the reply, its date and the office that issued it. If two answers appear inconsistent, explain the difference and request clarification instead of selecting the more convenient answer. A general webpage, a reply about another traveller and a decision on your own file are different kinds of evidence. Avoid treating informal recollections as personalised permission.

A calendar that separates tasks from permission

Keep application tasks, appointment dates and the actual recorded permission end date in separate calendar entries. Completing a task must not automatically move the permission date. Add reminders early enough to check missing documents and contact the responsible party, without inventing a universal advance deadline for every procedure.

For a family or group, check each person’s record individually and keep protected copies accessible during the trip. Before leaving Thailand and planning another entry, reassess the next journey from its own passport, purpose and dates rather than assuming the previous process repeats unchanged. This checklist supports preparation; it does not decide eligibility or promise approval.

Frequently asked questions

Is TDAC a visa?

No. It is a free arrival-information form; verify the applicable visa or exemption separately.

Is 60-day exemption still a general rule?

No: TAT announced its replacement from 15 September 2026 with nationality-dependent categories and applicable agreements.

Where can I enquire in Pattaya?

At the competent Chonburi Immigration office in Jomtien Soi 5, after checking current hours, appointments and documents.

Is an extension automatic?

No. It depends on status and assessment; a hotel booking does not change the permission date.
